Accounts

Model every account type — current, savings, ISA, credit, loans, BNPL, investments, pensions and crypto.

Account types

Add each of your real accounts and Zukunft models its type-specific behaviour:

  • Current — your day-to-day balance and cash buffer
  • Savings and ISA — balance, monthly contribution and interest (AER)
  • Credit and loans — balance, APR, payments and minimum payment rules
  • BNPL — a parent account holding individual installment plans (see BNPL Plans)
  • Investments — balance, contributions and an assumed annual growth rate
  • Pensions — balance, your contribution, employer contribution and growth rate
  • Crypto — holdings tracked per asset

Every account appears in projections, net worth, and the cash flow picture automatically. Credit cards can carry a credit limit, and the accounts list shows a colour-coded usage bar so high utilisation stands out.

The pension contributes 5% of salary rather than a fixed amount, and the credit card’s Usage bar turns amber, then red, as it approaches its limit. In the app each row links to the account’s detail page.

Balances and history

Each account keeps a history of balance snapshots, so your net worth history is built from real figures rather than estimates. Projections always start from your latest real balances — the forecast is anchored to where you actually are today, not where the plan said you'd be.

Interest actually earned (savings, investments) and charged (credit, loans) is recorded against each account, so history distinguishes real interest from projected interest.

Interest rates

All rates are entered as annual percentages — the AER or APR your bank quotes — and compounded monthly (annual rate divided by 12 each month).

When a rate changes, record the change with its effective date. Both history and future projections then use the correct rate for each period, instead of pretending today's rate applied forever.

Savings & investment tax estimate

Below the accounts list, Zukunft estimates the UK tax due on the next twelve months of savings interest and investment growth. Savings interest is taxed as savings income — the 0% starting rate and your Personal Savings Allowance are applied on top of your other income, so the allowances are consumed correctly. Investment growth is estimated against Capital Gains Tax after the annual exempt amount (a deliberate planning simplification). Accounts marked as ISAs are tax-free and excluded, and jointly owned accounts are split 50/50, matching HMRC's treatment.

Ownership and visibility

Each account records who it belongs to — yours, your partner's, or joint — and a visibility level: private, shared, or household. Visibility controls what other household members can see; accounts are private by default. See Households & sharing for how combined views work.
